The Kathryn Zox Show

On The Kathryn Zox Show, Deborah Rudell shares the turning points behind her story. After the leaders of her spiritual commune were exposed, arrested, and imprisoned for bioterrorism and attempted murder, she moved her family away in search of normalcy. Soon after, her husband committed to dismantling and rebuilding a derelict fifty-foot schooner, and Deborah uprooted their children again to join him in Kauai.

For five years, she poured herself into restoring the boat while navigating emotional upheaval and a shifting sense of direction. The journey culminated in a Pacific crossing to the Olympic Peninsula, where Deborah discovered a strength she did not know she had. Deborah is a graduate of Hay House Writer’s Workshop and the Certificate in Memoir Writing program at San Diego Writers, Ink.

Deborah Rudell

I grew up in a small town in British Columbia, the eldest of four children. Typical of the 60’s and 70’s, there were many children in the neighborhood and plenty of independence and autonomy. My parents were busy with younger siblings and as a child I found solace in my stuffed animals and imaginary friends. As a preteen, my grandmother taught me about reincarnation, Edgar Cayce, yoga and Jesus. As a teen, my coping mechanism for the pain I saw and felt in the world was a reading list that included Max Heindel’s The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception, Gina Cerminara’s Many Mansions, Levi Dowling’s The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ and books about Atlantis.
